Change is never painful, only the resistance to change is painful
This quote encapsulates the concept that change, in and of itself, is not inherently painful or distressing. Instead, it’s our resistance to this change – our clinging to old habits, routines or comforts – that causes us discomfort. The pain doesn’t come from the new situation but from our struggle to hold onto what is familiar and resist what is unfamiliar.
The idea behind this quote can be likened to swimming against a powerful current; it’s exhausting and futile. But if we learn to swim with the current (i.e., accept and adapt to change), we find that progress becomes much easier.
Applying this concept in today’s world might involve embracing technological advancements instead of resisting them. For instance, many people feel overwhelmed by the rapid pace of technological innovation and digitalization in recent years. However, rather than resisting these changes out of fear or discomfort, embracing them could lead to personal growth or new opportunities.

These changes can initially seem daunting due to unfamiliarity; however by accepting these situations as opportunities for growth rather than threats to stability, one can minimize their own suffering.
